This week we have been lucky to have Dan from AICO come to visit us to give the team some training on smoke alarms and co alarms to keep us up to date.

Is your home protected? Do you have the correct alarms installed in the right place? Have you checked your smoke alarms? do they work? have you tested them?

Performing a regular test is a vital part of ensuring continued fire and carbon monoxide detection. Alarms should be tested weekly to ensure everything is working correctly.

• Check that the green light on the alarm is on (this shows that it is receiving mains power)
• Press the 'Test' button for 10 seconds
• The alarm will sound loudly, so that you know the alarm is functioning

Are you a landlord is your property protected, is your tenant safe and are you complying with legislation? In England and Scotland Landlords must fit Smoke and Carbon Monoxide (CO) Alarms in their tenanted properties by law.

As of the 1st October 2015 all private tenanted properties must have:

• working smoke alarms installed on every level of the property
